HISTORY

This nondescript nightclub served a predominantly African American gay and lesbian crowd from 1980 until it was sold in March 2007. Originally located across the street from City Hall, Cabel’s Reef moved to this location in 1984 where it remained until closing.

The origin of Cabel’s Reef is murky. What we do know is that Jack Everhart purchased the bar in 1982. Under his ownership, Cabel’s Reef thrived and developed a loyal gay following.

We thank Jack for passing the torch to us and providing us the opportunity to live our dreams by opening The Vibe Lounge.
